I have this cute black Lab name Bella, and she is adorable. She loves three things – me, belly rub, and evening walk, and I can’t resist giving her all three. But whenever we go outside, she becomes one with the dark.
And in a busy community with cars not paying attention and zooming by, it gets hard to keep her safe. It gets worse in the winters as the sun sets at five, and nothing but the fog(and darkness) can be seen.
Being a good mama, I understood that something needed to be done for her safety. So, I finally stumbled upon something known as the “glow in the dark dog collar.” This collar makes your pup visible in the dark. Great!
Exactly what I needed, but the problem was, there were tons of them flooding the market; how do I get my hand on the right one? I went online, bought all the best ones(18 to be exact), and tested them.
After a month of testing, I understood which one is better, and that’s what this article is all about. I will rank these glow dog collars from worst to best and my review.

5. Illumiseen LED Dog Collar – USB Rechargeable –
This collar from Illumifun is the cheaper version of their original LED collar(also on the list). It looks similar but has everything less, like fewer color and size options, less glow time, and comfort. And most importantly, it’s not adjustable or has a lifetime guarantee like the other one.
All this difference for just a couple of bucks, so don’t mind getting this one unless you are super tight on budget. But I know you are smart enough to get the other one and save yourself from many headaches. Made from nylon material, this sturdy collar is available in four color options.
I have tried them all, and Green3(G3) is the brightest. It has a different design than the other colors. G3 has the on/off enclosed within the on/off pad while the red didn’t, which is weird but fine. It offers three modes – quick flash, slow flash, and steady glow like every collar here.
Just by the name, you know what each mode has to offer. This collar comes with a micro USB cable for charging, which works well. I was happy that somebody upgraded from a mini USB, which was a pain to find in the market is broken.
I am also impressed that it glows bright enough to be seen from 300 yards. And you can expect a standby of 4 hours, unlike the 8-10 hours they promised. But that’s alright for me as the glow was great. Now, this collar has two problems – Collar Tightening and Durability.
Earlier, this used to be too loose for every dog, but in the 2020 version, Illumifun tried to solve it by giving the option to tighten it. Still, it’s unsolved as when you tighten it, it doesn’t stay and gets loose really easily, so you can’t attach a leash to it.
The second complaint is regarding quality and durability. I heard tons of people saying that the USB charging port either breaks or stops getting a charge after a couple of months, making it junk. Since I only had it for a month, I can’t verify it, but many people told me about this.

4. Illumiseen LED Dog Collar – USB Rechargeable Original Version –
If you read my review about Illumiseen earlier(#5 here), you already know this collar. It is the user-friendly, comfortable, fully adjustable glow in dark dog collar you need. It comes in six colors and six size options available for most breeds.
So, your fido will be comfortable here; if not, just adjust the collar, and it’ll be easy to put on. This collar is weatherproof, so it can handle light rain. But don’t submerge it as the power socket is exposed, so the water can easily slip in and ruin the circuit.
This is one of the best-looking, most low-profile, and bright LED collars I have tried, but the problem is they don’t last long. It has the worst quality battery I have ever seen. It will stop charging for no reason(exceptions are there).
After some research, I realized I wasn’t the only one suffering; tons of people have the same complaint. And I think Illumiseen is working to solve this problem, but it’s nothing more than a piece of junk.
Thankfully, it comes with a Lifetime Guarantee, so I returned it, but I know people who got a replacement have the same problem. The plug built into the collar is only tucked into the battery’s fabric, not sewn in.
I have difficulty disconnecting the charger without pulling the internal part of the plug completely out and then tugging it back into place again. I was worried about damaging the wiring by pulling it too hard. But then it stopped getting any charge, so I returned it.
However, it was glowing bright with the charger plugged in; once you unplug, it stops glowing. Another thing is that it has the weirdest charger ever. It’s that round-like pin charger we used to have in the Nokia’s handset. If you lost it somewhere, you would have difficulty finding it in the market.
Illumiseen understood the problem and started offering additional chargers. Final words – This collar is stunning; however, I can’t rank it in the top three until the battery problem continues. Once the battery problem is solved, it will jump straight to #2 for sure.
