5. Molotow ONE4ALL Acrylic Paint Marker

With a 1.5mm tip, it is perfect for watch faces, gun sights, fabric, and other detailed work. It yields a bright, thin, and easy to control line, exactly what you need. If you don’t like the color, you have four more options to choose from, the same for the size.

Anyway, this is a decent marker; it’s waterproof, heatproof, weatherproof, but definitely not that bright. It glows decent under a UV Blacklight, better than most in the market, but not like others on the list.

I’ll say, only get it if you need to do detailed work; otherwise, there are better options available. The best thing is you can exchange the tips and refill them; Molotow offers that(not free, of course). The other complaint I have is that the application is very sloppy and drips a bit.

Pros

  • Glow decent under UV Blacklight
  • Good for detailed work
  • Waterproof, heat-proof, and weatherproof
  • Can exchange the tips and refill it

Cons

  • Not as bright as other
  • The application is very sloppy and drips a bit

4. Sakura Solid Marker Glow In The Dark

This marker from Sakura is one of its kind; it’s what they call a “Solid Marker.” Basically, it’s a hybrid of glow crayon and a marker as it glows brightly like a marker, while the consistency being that of a crayon.

I was really surprised by how bright it glows after a little charge. With just a couple of minutes in blacklight, you can expect it to glow up to eight hours. It really does steal the show, thanks to its safety-grade luminescent material.

But make sure to charge it using a Blacklight(preferred) or sunlight. It is really amazing, but its consistency made it lower on the list. It has the consistency of a crayon that has been put in a microwave for a few seconds.

So, it spreads like butter, making it a big failure for detailed work. Although it can be used on almost any surface, it doesn’t flow like other markers. However, if you are willing to spread the paint a little(with fingers), it’s fairly smooth.

Pros

  • Glow brightly for hours
  • One of its kind in the market
  • It can be used on almost any surface.

Cons

  • Isn’t good for detailed work

3. Blacklight Reactive Electric Neon Permanent Fabric Markers

Although it is specially designed for fabric, it works great on paper, walls, plastic, pumpkin, and almost any surface you can think of. You can even use it on the skin, but that’s not recommended.

I’ll say if you want a fabric glow paint or a glow paint for detailed work, look no further; this one is the best. With four glow markers having a refined tip, it is the thing you must have in your arsenal.

These markers, when applied, look normal in the day but fluoresce in the dark. You’ll be impressed by how bright it glows, but the catch is, it only glows under UV light. It doesn’t hold the charge like some other markers.

So, you must have good blacklight to see the best results. But does it mean you have to wait until the blacklight reaches your doorway? NOPE! DirectGlow offers you a tiny UV light to give you an idea about how it will perform.

So, before you use it on any surface, you can test on a small surface and look it under the UV light, of course, until the big one arrives. I’m telling you, they glow crazy under blacklight, the colors are softer rather than brilliant neon, but it looks amazing.

One thing I have observed is that it works best on white fabric. Also, it holds true to their “permanent” statement. Even after washing the shirts a couple of times, nothing has worn off. Pretty impressive, TBH.

Pros

  • Glow really bright under UV light
  • Works great on almost any surface
  • It is best for detailed work.
  • You get a free tiny UV light.
  • Nothing wore off after washing, so indeed, it’s permanent.

Cons

  • Only two colors are much visible; the rest are alright.
  • It won’t show much on fabric until it’s white or you paint it with light acrylic paint

2. ArtShip Design 14 Pack Glow in dark Markers

This marker from ArtShip is amazing and the perfect value-for-money thing. I am very impressed by the quality, quantity, and durability of this marker. You get 14 pens, seven medium tips, and seven extra fine tips for all your projects.

You can literally do everything you can dream of. The fine works great for detailed work like watch faces, painting, etc., while the medium ones do the rest. Remember, you get two pens of each color, one with a medium tip and the other with an extra-fine.

So, you have seven bright colors to choose from. Each color glows well, but White, Silver, Green, and Yellow are the brightest. The rest are good but look dull in front of others. You can use it on most surfaces like wood, fabric, rock, ceramic, and more.

Not only you, but even your kid can join as it’s non-toxic and odorless. Plus, it conforms to ASTM D-4236 standards, so nothing to worry about. Like every glow in the dark marker, you have to put it under a blacklight to see the best results.

I am using this Blacklight, and it works wonders with every glow product in the world. Users really love that it’s smooth, safe, bright, and value for money, but wish it was a little thicker.

Pros

  • Smooth, Glow bright, and clear.
  • You get 14 pens, 7 colors, each with two different tip sizes.
  • Non-toxic and kid-safe
  • It can be used on any surface.
  • Great value for money

Cons

  • Little watery than expected

1. Crafty Croc Neon Chalk Blacklight Glow Marker

This award-winning marker from Crafty Croc is pretty impressive. It’s bright, non-toxic, unscented, safe for kids, and has smooth writing, unlike most others. It comes in three color options, but I recommend you get this double pack(the picture above).

It contains five of the most popular neon paints ever, so you get more of the colors you love and none of the ones you don’t. This is cool as you aren’t spending on something you won’t use for the rest of your life.

Each of these five colors is very vibrant and attention-grabbing, making it worth every penny. However, you can glance at the other color options if you need more options, but I think this color option is the supreme.

Along with the marker, you get five replacement tips to help you use every bit of ink without sacrificing the quality, which is nice. One thing to notice, however, is that it only glows in the dark under a blacklight. Without a blacklight, don’t expect it to fluoresce.

That’s why having a good Blacklight is crucial.  Now, it looks amazing in the daylight too, but a Blacklight makes it glow to its full potential. This thing is simple to use. Just shake a little bit (with a cap on) and then press down the marker’s tip so that chalk paint starts to fill the tip.

And once the tips are filled, you are ready to go. The only drawback here is that it’s hard to wash off, so if you are using these on surfaces where you are constantly changing the design, it’s not for you.

However, if you want it permanent or change the surface every couple of months, it’s the best.

Pros

  • Glows bright and clear
  • Non-toxic, non-scented, and safe for kids
  • Smooth and simple to use
  • Available in three color size options

Cons

  • Hard to wash off

Things To Consider Before Buying a Glow Marker

Things to consider before you get the Best Glow in the Dark MarkersThere are certain factors that need to be taken into consideration prior to purchasing glow markers.

1. Type

Before selecting the type of glow marker, you need to make a list of your requirements. Do you want to use it in reflective lights, or you want to store the light for some time so that it glows for a long time?

Typically, Two Types Of Glow Markers Available Are-

Phosphorescent Markers- They are as close to glowing in the dark markers as possible. These types of markers need to be regularly exposed to UV light so that they can retain light and then re-emit it.

However, these markers are gel-based, which makes them suitable for highlighting or marking and not for writing purposes. Moreover, with time, phosphorescent markers will lose their glow as the paint will lose its phosphorus element.

These types of markers are used to mark parking lots or lights so that they can be easily detected in darkness.

Fluorescent Markers- These types of markers glow in the dark as they come with the ability to reflect UV light. You can use them to write or draw anything as per your wish. However, they need some type of UV light to illuminate.

Plus, they are durable and will work for a long time. At the end of the day, it depends upon you which type of glow markers you want to buy. Both of the markers come with their own pros and cons.

2. Brightness

What is the use of a glow in the dark marker that is not even bright enough? Some light-up markers glow for a longer duration under dark, while some need UV light to radiate.

Phosphorescent markers shine in a more luminous manner as compared to fluorescent markers.  Both these types of markers are available in different colors such as green, pink, blue, yellow.

Blue and greens are said to have the biggest impacts as compared to reds, pinks, and purples. You can select the color as per your project needs.

3. Quality

You need to ensure that the quality of your marker is good. This means that your glow marker should dry quickly and not fade easily. It should be water-proof and should not spread so as to avoid the mess.

Further, it should be glossy as well as non-toxic and safe to use.  Your glow marker must work well on multiple surfaces such as paper, plastic, wood, leather, and more. It should be rich in color, work boldly, and give a neat look.

Make sure that you invest in a high-quality marker so that you can complete all your projects in an efficient and perfect manner.

4. Tip Shades

Before you delve into different brands of markers available in the market, you need to decide what nib you want. The tip shape significantly impacts your experience of working.

First, there is a brush tip, which is the most versatile and ideal for more detailed work. This tip further can be used to create variable-width strokes.

Second, the chisel tip is very common and can be used for different purposes. The wide side is great for highlighting, while the pointy side is suitable for making thinner strokes.

Next is the fine tip, which is just like a regular pen and is considered perfect for fine details. Fourth, the bullet tip is similar to most sketch pens tips and is also available at a low price.

5. Water-Based Or Alcohol Based

Water-based markers are very common and available everywhere. They are extremely versatile and are ideal for coloring books. However, they come in fewer colors and dry less quickly. If you lay too much of these markers on paper, they can damage your project.

On the other hand, alcohol markers are more expensive but are the popular choice of most artists because they blend in a smooth manner. Plus, they are available in more colors, can be easily refilled, and offer stronger fade-resistance.

However, their downfall is that they bleed through the paper and have an odor. If you compare these two, then in terms of use, alcohol-based markers can fulfill your different project needs in a better manner.
