Over the past couple of months, one question that has overflowed my inbox is, “Which is the Longest-lasting glow in the dark paint?”
While talking to amazing people like you was fun, I thought, why not write a full-fledged article about that.
This way, people can directly know the answer from their browser rather than writing an email and waiting for a reply. So, after testing tons of glow paints, I will say Aurora glow paint.
- Very Strong Unique Bright Aqua Glow Color (Light Blue/Turquoise). Opaque off-white color in daylight.
- Glows ALL NIGHT after a short charge from light (UV flashlight is best!)

I have said it a thousand times now and will keep on saying(if I have to) that Aurora is everything you need. It applies smoothly, dries fast, and glows brightly for hours without any problem.
The best part is that you can use it on most surfaces like walls, ceiling art, canvas, stones, Metal, fishing lures, wood, shoes, etc. You can even use it outdoors, and it works like a charm.
I was amazed to see that this paint by itself is water & weatherproof, so rainstorms and stuff don’t mess with it. Although, SpaceBeams recommends varnishing it over when using it outside.
This paint can glow for 20-24 hours, depending on how well you have used and charged it. By usage, I mean how well you have applied it over the surface and whether you performed the best practice or not.
What best practices are you talking about?
I am talking about things like cleaning the surface off any oil/grease before applying the paint, applying it thickly(2-3 mm thickness), and charging it well via a good light source. Also, making sure that the surface is white as a glow paint fluoresce better on a lighter surface.
If the surface isn’t white, make sure to use a primer coat of white paint before applying. This ensures you get the longest glow of any paint. Now, coming back to the other two things – Applying and charging it for the best and long-lasting glow.
Well, I have already written an article on both topics, so I won’t repeat it again. You can check how to use glow paint and how to charge them the right way. If you haven’t read these two articles, I recommend reading them first. Don’t worry; they are pretty small, will hardly take like 3 minutes each, but will give you some great advice.

Even if you have decided to get the Aurora paint, I’ll still recommend reading them. Now, let’s talk more about the paint. See, Aurora is a pretty thick paint; it’s more of a paste than paint, but that is its beauty.
You can use it anywhere you want. Since it’s thick, it adheres well to non-porous surfaces like rock and wood. And for porous surfaces like paper and canvas, you can dilute them using some water. Problem solved!
It is available in two different colors – Neon Green and Bright Aqua, and I love both of them. Although green is amazing, the Bright Aqua reminds me of the orb and mushroom we all have seen in the fairy stories.
Only Bright Aqua is available at the time of writing, but I hope Neon Green will join the team soon. So, what’s so special about this paint? It is made by using top-grade glow pigments in a durable & ultra-adhesive acrylic solution.
A highly concentrated mix of optimal pigment particle sizes provides the strongest and longest glows, possibly without impacting texture. Even though it’s thick, I never witness uneven or thick texture, which is amazing. I have used many paints that are said to compete with “Aurora,” but all of them either have an awful smell or very thick pigment similar to sand.
But only this one has maintained the name and quality I always expected. Plus, it’s non-toxic, non-flammable, and water-based, which makes it perfect for kids. The ingredients are Strontium, as the oxide ‘strontium oxide’ (SrO), present as a major constituent, alongside oxides of other elements such as aluminum and europium.
All of them combined does the right job. I’m not a physic or chemistry guru, but I know they work best together. So good, in fact, that Aurora comes in the top glow-in-the-dark paint on the market right now. And of course, it’s the longest-lasting one too.
